Dearest Friends and Family,

As the holiday season approaches and we take a moment to give thanks for yet another outstanding year at Desert Star Construction, we can’t help but feel a profound sense of gratitude for those team members who continue to go above and beyond the call of duty to help take our various custom residential projects around the Valley to the next level of quality and service.

Your tireless dedication ensures every last detail of every home we touch is completed with excellence. You are the reason why our clients trust us to consistently Build the Best Better®.

What we are doing together as a team is more than just placing a brick, revising a shop drawing, or painting a wall. We are creating a very special place for wonderful memories to be shared, not only by the families who will eventually live in the homes we build, but amongst each other as a team. Quite simply, we could not do what we do without you! For your remarkable work and delightful friendship, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

We wish you and your loved ones a very Happy Thanksgiving and a most beautiful holiday season!

Most sincerely,

Team DSC®

The American Institute of Architects (AIA) Arizona honored Desert Star Construction with the 2014 “Contractor Award” on Saturday, November 15th during the Celebrate Architecture Design Awards Gala held at the Hotel Valley Ho. The award honors a firm that exemplifies the vital role of the Contractor in bringing good design to reality through innovation, technology, craftsmanship, teamwork, and dedication.

“Our mission is to build homes, relationships, and exceptional experiences that will last a lifetime,” shared DSC President Jerry Meek. “We are relentless in our pursuit of excellence, which results in the superior quality of every home we build and the extraordinary relationships we forge with our clients, partners, and organizations like AIA Arizona. Architects, together with talented designers, artisan craftspeople, and trusted vendors, remain integral to the success of our vision. We’re here to serve our clients to the best of our abilities, and we simply couldn’t do it without the support of an incredible team.”

We are extremely grateful to AIA Arizona and the jury panel for choosing DSC to receive this incredible honor. Most especially, we thank AIA Architect Mark Candelaria (Candelaria Design Associates) and AIA Architect Erik Peterson (PHX Architecture) for their nomination and support.

We encourage all of our team members to contribute articles to the DSC Blog. It’s our way of saying “Hello!” through updates and experiences that are moving and shaking our world today. More recently, Sustainability Programs Manager Jeremy Meek has contributed two articles that divulge a bit about how far DSC has advanced with technology and what we could all learn from the iconic architect Frank Lloyd Wright.

Harnessing Technology

Using technology to leverage our efforts and productivity is ingrained in the culture of Team DSC®. While we are implementing a variety of tools on a daily basis, this tradition of leveraging technology to add value to our clients and partners started way back on August 15, 1981 with Jerry’s purchase of one of the first IBM PC1’s. Creativity Maximized!

In December of 2011, members of Team DSC® were privileged to attend a private event at the Phoenix Art Museum ahead of the Frank Lloyd Wright exhibit opening to the public. During this event, we learned a lesser known story about the design process of Frank Lloyd Wright. READ MORE…

As most of you already know, I’m a really big fan of stories that motivate and change people for the better. I came across a particularly moving story and immediately shared it with members of my team. I’d like to share it with you now.

It’s a story about a young man who is about to give up his dream of becoming a doctor. One simple gesture of generosity and care shown by a stranger turns his life around. The story shows us that giving from the heart is the essence of living a truly meaningful life. Giving our best effort is at the core of Team DSC®. We are inspired to give from our hearts for the benefit of our clients, partners, friends, and the community.

I’m more than certain the 2 minutes and 36 seconds it takes for you to watch the video will change your life. It’ll show you how simple it really is to make a difference in the lives of those around you that will in turn, change your own life forever. This story is so profound and moving, I dare you not to cry. ☺

With gratitude and love,
