Team DSC® knows how to rise to the challenge, and our team members definitely showed this to be true during our most recent team building event.
At the beginning of May 2016, the team made its way to Octane Raceway for an afternoon of go-kart racing and some “friendly” competition. Everyone got a couple rounds of racing on the 1/3 mile track utilizing karts that have a maximum speed capability of 45 m.p.h.
The first two rounds of racing brought randomly selected team members to race against one another with the third race featuring the eight “Turtles” who were the slowest in the first set of races. The winner of that third race received the coveted Turtle Award.
The fourth and final race pitted the fastest eight “Cheetahs” from the first set of races against each other for the chance to take home the winner’s trophy (and rightfully earned bragging rights).
Team members unleashed their competitive spirits on the raceway, with DSC Superintendent Doug Shadd winning first prize among the fastest racers and DSC Superintendent Mitch Rotta being crowned with the Turtle Award.
DSC President Jerry Meek later shared that he was not only happy to avoid coming in last again this year, he was also happy to avoid Project Coordinator Kasey Shobe as she blazed down the raceway showing she wasn’t going to let anyone get in her way.
All in all, it was a great opportunity for the team to bring together our newest team members with our Team DSC® veterans for an afternoon of good fun. Once again, we realized what makes our team so special – it’s our the ability to build each other up and strive to do our very best with whatever comes our way.
