My Mother’s Words

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!

To give you some insight about the incredible woman who brought me into this world, I would like to take a moment and share with you a few words about my own mother, Bea Gardy.

Bea was one of fifteen children born and raised during the Depression era. She grew up in a town of less than 2,500 people.

Despite struggling with poor health and physical challenges in her early years, she went on to pursue her love of music and to use her gift of singing after she graduated from high school.

At the age of twenty-five, she was a Decca Record recording artist and was rated as one of the top twenty vocalists in America. She continued singing in churches around the country throughout her adult life.

Her faith and ability to connect with people have always inspired me.

My mother taught me how to love people. Both of my parents always did the best they could on my behalf. I would not be the man, brother, father and most importantly, the person of faith I am today without their continued love, guidance, encouragement and support.

They remain two of the most influential people in my life. They both taught me valuable lessons and have always pushed me to reach my potential.

In thinking back to when I was growing up, the words of my mother come to mind:

“It does not matter what you choose to be or do in life. Just whatever you do, be the best. If you are going to dig ditches, be the best ditch digger.”

My hope is that you give yourself the opportunity to reflect on what words of wisdom your own mother has offered you. Or perhaps there is someone in your life who has played a motherly role from which you can draw inspiration.

It would bring me great joy if you would share those words with me by emailing Jerry@TeamDSC.com. Be sure to also share those same words with those around you, so they may also benefit from their wisdom and be carried by the love in which they were said to you.

From all of us at Team DSC®, we wish you a beautiful weekend.
