Past. Present. Future. As the first ever LEED for Homes certified property in Paradise Valley, Arizona, Zona Verde honors the past and is forward thinking in terms of design, sustainability, and family.
At Zona Verde, old-word craftsmanship and new-world technology combine, leaving the homeowners who worried they would have to trade luxury for efficiency, instead singing the praises of custom green building. As the first ever LEED for Homes certified property in Paradise Valley and one of the largest LEED certified homes in Arizona, this residence honors each with a main house, guest house and casita attaining the highest standards of sustainability.
Built for Arizona-raised homeowners who love and respect the desert climate, the pre-existing 1960s home was salvaged and its materials were donated to local non-profits. All of the original plants, trees and cacti, some of which are more than a century old, were also saved and replanted on the property. Located adjacent to Camelback Mountain, the homeowners enjoy easy access to one of the most frequented hiking trails in the city.
Each space is designed and enriched with the homeowners’ deep appreciation for European design. Painstakingly sourced materials and architectural salvage, such as Belgian cobblestone, reclaimed ceilings beams, limestone fireplaces imported from France, and antique hardware create a sense of classic tradition. Found amongst their collection of art, books and antiques are photos of the homeowner’s children, grandchildren and lifelong friends, showing that each room is made to share life’s most precious moments with those they love most.
Even as the home exudes the spirit of European design, art and beauty, its heart beats strong for the future. Advanced technology goes virtually undetected with solar hot water, solar electric and smart irrigation helping to make the residence 43 percent more energy efficient and save 67 percent more water on irrigation than a typical custom home.
Zona Verde is a place where tradition and technology come together, bringing the best of both worlds for its owners to share and enjoy.
