Visit a DSC custom residential project where Adam Kent is the Superintendent, and you’ll more than likely find a quote from legendary football coach Vince Lombardi written where everyone can see it.
“My biggest inspiration has always been my dad,” he says. “He was a big Vince Lombardi guy, so it’s no shock that I turned out liking him as well.”
Following in the footsteps of his father and Lombardi, Adam invokes strength, camaraderie, and integrity with every interaction that takes place under his watch. As DSC Superintendent, he is responsible for handling the day-to-day on site operations, including implementing and coordinating the schedule, inspections, and duties that enable the project to be completed on time and on budget. Driving the pursuit of excellence on every custom residential construction project he touches is the fact that he simply loves construction.
“I started flipping houses with my friend and his dad when I was in high school,” Adam shares. “Even though I began college studying medicine, it clicked one day that I loved being around residential construction. So I transferred to Michigan State University and started taking classes towards a Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Management. Building custom homes is an honor where I take great pride and joy out of what I do.”
Aside from his passion for all things construction, including his collection of Yankee (Man) Candles that actually smell like fresh cut two-by-fours, Adam is an avid outdoorsman. “Where I come from in Michigan, the average snowfall is about 70-feet a year,” he says. “People wonder how I handle the hot desert. I’ll take a summer day in Arizona over winter in Michigan where you have to wear goggles to protect your eyes from freezing when you go outside. At least here you can get away from the heat by hunting, fishing, or swimming in a lake.”
