IBS Thank You

By Carol Meek

DSC Sustainability Programs Manager Jeremy Meek and DSC President Jerry Meek took a trip out to Las Vegas, Nevada this past January to attend the 2014 NAHB International Builder’s Show (IBS). Over 75,000 building industry professionals attended this diverse showcase featuring over 1500 exhibitors, 80+ speakers, and an impressive array of building, technology, and sustainability classes, workshops, and lectures.

During the conference, the duo had the opportunity to meet with some of their National Custom Builders Council (NCBC) fellow-members for dinner, which allowed for some great conversation and catching up in-between their bi-annual meetings. More about DSC’s involvement with NCBC can be found by reading Jerry’s recent blog Triple Crown Leadership.

“It was great to see everyone doing so well. We had the opportunity to meet more of each members’ teams, some of which have never before been introduced to the group. We are privileged to be part of such a great association!” ~ Jeremy Meek, DSC Sustainability Programs Manager

The highlight of the trade show for both Jerry and Jeremy was touring the 31st National Association of Home Builder’s (NAHB) New American Home in neighboring Henderson, Nevada. Read their takeaway of this impressive home by visiting Impressions of the 31st NAHB New American Home in Henderson, NV.

All work and no play simply do not mix when it comes to an exciting city like Las Vegas, so Jerry and Jeremy made sure to see the hit show “Blue Man Group” in between classes and meetings. They also took in the sights as the entire city was decked out in celebration of Chinese New Year and The Year of the Horse.

“The outlook from everyone we interacted with at the International Builders’ Show was positive for a great year in business over the course of 2014 and beyond! We look forward to visiting IBS again in the future.” ~ Jerry Meek, DSC President
